Answers:
1. How do I get help?
Referral to Tabor Lodge can be made directly by the person concerned. Contact us on 021-4887110 to arrange an assessment meeting with a professional addiction counsellor in strict confidence. Admissions can happen within 72 hours of the assessment appointment.
We would always advise that you be accompanied by a family member or friend to this appointment both for support and as a valuable source of information.
2. What is the cost?
The Assessment Process prior to treatment costs €50.
The Out-Patient Programme costs €80 per week for a 16 week period which amounts to €1,280.
The 28 Day Residential Treatment Programme costs €220 per day, total €6,160
Eating Disorders require a 35 day programme with a total cost of €7,700.
Full discussion of payment options will take place as part of assessment process.
3. Will my health insurance cover the costs?
VHI, QUINN HEALTHCARE and AVIVA all cover the costs of some treatment programmes at Tabor Lodge.
Probation Services also provide assistance to clients referred to Tabor Lodge.
Some workplaces have schemes which assist with treatment costs.
Easy pay options can be discussed with staff as part of assessment process also.
4. What if I am a medical card holder?
HSE grants assist with costs of medical card holders.
5. How do I know if I have an addiction problem?
Take the C A G E Drinking Self-Test:
Have I a problem?
Cage is the most widely used test in clinical practice. It includes four questions and takes only a minute to complete.

- ANNOYED
- GUILTY
- EYE OPENER
1. Have you ever felt you should CUT DOWN on your drinking?
2. Have people ANNOYED you by critisising your drinking?
3. Have you ever felt GUILTY about your drinking?
4. Have you ever had a drink first thing in the morning as an EYE
OPENER to steady your nerves or get rid of a hangover?
If you answered yes to at least two of the above questions, you are at risk of having a problem with alcohol. There are other diagnostic tools available to help you further assess a problem with alcohol or drugs. Your GP can help you determine if a problem exists. 7. My family friend/colleague doesn’t think he/she has a problem. What can I do?
Begin to inform and educate yourself about addiction, its impact, its signs and symptoms. This helps you to cope with the impact of the addiction on you and allows you to speak with the person concerned with more knowledge. Contact Tabor Lodge Family Addiction Counsellor at 021 4887110.
8. Is there a detox unit at the Centre?
Detoxification needs are addressed as part of assessment with co-operation from the General Practitioner. The patient is clearly monitored during the Pre-Treatment Programme. The detoxification regime is completed in the early days after admission. Tabor Lodge does not have “dedicated residential” detox beds.
